Eastern Arizona College Homecoming Weekend Recap

Homecoming weekend at Eastern Arizona College (EAC) was a thrilling display of athletic skill and determination, as the volleyball and both soccer teams took center stage with remarkable performances.

Volleyball's Rally Cry

On Friday, September 20, the Lady Monsters volleyball team faced Arizona Western in an intense five-set match. After falling behind in the first two sets, the team staged a dramatic comeback. The third set was a turning point, with EAC charging ahead with an 18-2 run, thanks in part to Sophomore Brianna O'Donnal's 6 aces. Sophomore Melanie Merrill led the offensive charge with 19 kills, while Freshman libero Kambria Maloy anchored the defense with 23 digs. Freshman Hanah Pushckor was a dominant force at the net, contributing 10 blocks to help secure the victory in five sets.

The following day, the Lady Monsters returned to the court against Pima Community College, sweeping them in straight sets. O'Donnal continued her impressive form, leading the team with 12 kills, while Merrill added 7 digs and 3 aces to help seal the win.

Men's Soccer Defeats Undefeated Mohave

In an exciting men's soccer match on Saturday, September 21, EAC took on undefeated Mohave Community College. Sophomore Joao Martins da Silva opened the scoring for the Monsters with an unassisted goal. The game was tied 1-1 with just 40 seconds remaining when EAC earned a free kick. Sophomore Tajay Cummings took the shot, and though the Mohave keeper initially blocked it, Sophomore Ronardo Burgher was quick to capitalize on the rebound, firing it into the net and securing a 2-1 victory for the Monsters.

Women's Soccer Claims Victory Over Mohave

The Lady Monsters soccer team capped off the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Mohave Community College. The team dominated throughout, led by Sophomore Nao Yasuda, who netted a goal with an assist from Sophomore Maddie Haslam. Freshman Andrea Perez added a brace to the scoreboard, with assists from Haslam and Sophomore Kara Camp, ensuring a comfortable win for the Lady Monsters.
