Scottsdale Gave EAC Soccer a Fight

Eastern Arizona Women's Soccer played #11 Scottsdale Artichokes last night for a chance to make playoffs. The Artichokes scored in the 10th minute of the game making it the only point in the game until half. After the half, Maria Antonia Coelho assisted by Grace Abegg and Emma Lindsey got the first point for the Monsters. Emma Lindsey scored a brace with another point added by Maddie Haslam bringing the Lady Monsters to a 4-1 lead over Scottsdale. Scottsdale scored two points in the final minutes bringing the final score to a tie of 4-4 giving the Lady Monsters a ticket to playoffs.

Men's Soccer also played Scottsdale last night for a chance at playoffs. The score stayed at a stalemate the entire first half in a back-and-forth game but provided a lot of offensive opportunities for the Monsters. EAC outshot Scottsdale 13 to 9 but was unable to find the back of the net. Unfortunately, this loss knocks EAC out of regional finals this year.

Both men's and women's soccer will play again this Saturday, October 14 at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. against Pima Community College for Homecoming. Sophomores will be honored before the women's game at 4:15 p.m. Homecoming royalty and Homecoming float winners will be announced between games.
