Men Clinch Regular Season Championship Title For the First time in 17 years

In a two-day matchup against Arizona Western in Yuma, AZ, both the men's and women's basketball teams emerged victorious.

 

The men's team started strong with a 77-68 win on the first day, led by freshman Tarrance Warren's 18 points and Leigh Rickwood-Pit's 11 rebounds. Noah Ogoli contributed 5 assists, showcasing finesse in orchestrating the offense.

 

Day two proved to be a true test for the men, as they battled Arizona Western in overtime, ultimately securing a hard-fought 79-77 victory clinching the ACCAC Conference Championship title for 2024 for the first time since 2007. 

Sophomore Dallon Morgan stepped up with 15 points, supported by Raysean Seamster's 9 rebounds. Once again, Noah Ogoli played a pivotal role with 11 assists.

 

Meanwhile, the Lady Monsters dominated their games against Arizona Western, triumphing with scores of 63-48 and 64-53. Sophomore Vitoria Santana's impressive performance stood out, amassing 10 assists, 20 rebounds, and a remarkable 47 points over the two days.

 

Coach Cameron Turner made history by becoming the first head coach to claim both the men's and women's regular season titles in ACCAC basketball. This remarkable achievement solidifies Turner's legacy in the conference's history books.

Both teams have two more regularly scheduled games coming up on Saturday, March 2nd against Chandler-Gilbert and back home on March 4 against Pima. The men's basketball Region I first round playoff game has been set for March 9th at 7pm in Guitteau Gym. Go Monsters!
