Monster Athletic Update
Saturday was an eventful weekend on the Eastern Arizona campus with baseball, softball, and men's basketball hosting games at home.
Softball took two against Mesa Community College with final scores of 10-0 and 10-1. The Lady Monsters continue at home on Tuesday, March 12 against Arizona Western.
Baseball also took two at home against Glendale Community College with final scores of 6-2 and 15-2 in seven innings. Coach Kimball expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance " Offensively I thought we were really good. We pounded out 27 hits in the 2 games. Overall I feel like we are starting to turn a corner as a team." The team was led by Freshman Jalen Ryan and Sophomore Jonas Rogers who both had 4 hits on the day. Sophomore Jacob Platt had 5 RBI's.
Baseball is home on Tuesday, March 12 to host Pima CC.
Golf placed 2nd in the Estrella Golf Tournament over the weekend. "It was the hardest test we have faced all season, but it was a good test for the team. Where we made mistakes, we will work this week and get ready for the tournament coming up on March 17-18 at Tres Rios golf course hosted by Glendale," Coach Cabezas.
Men's Basketball also took to the court this weekend hosting the Region I semi-final round against Yavapai. The men led an exciting battle finishing 83-53. They look to Monday night as they face off against Cochise College for the Region I Final at 7 pm.
