Monsters Move On: Morgan to Central Washington, Seamster to UT Arlington
Dallon Morgan, the 6'9" forward from Salem, Oregon, has signed his national letter of intent with Central Washington University on National Signing Day. With stats like 9.1 points per game, 5 rebounds, and a 36% three-point shooting average, Morgan proved himself on the court. He was also named Week 11 ACCAC Player of the Week and started 31 out of 32 games for his team, which boasted a 26-7 record and claimed both the ACCAC regular season and conference tournament championships.
Dallon opted for Central Washington University over Western New Mexico University, University of Alaska Anchorage, Southern Indiana University, and Southern Mississippi University. In explaining his choice, Morgan emphasized, "I think the biggest factor was being close to home. Having my family able to come watch me play, along with the supportive coaches, players, and community in Ellensburg, made Central Washington the best fit for me."
A second-generation monster, Morgan follows in his grandfather Don Fish's footsteps, who played for EAC in 1959. With three years of eligibility remaining, Morgan is poised to continue his success at Central Washington University.
Raysean Seamster, the 6'7" wing from Portland, Oregon, has made his mark on Eastern Arizona College's basketball program, also signing his national letter of intent with UT Arlington on National Signing Day. Seamster's impressive stats speak for themselves, averaging 17.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, leading the Monsters in both scoring and rebounding.
Raysean has compiled one of the most impressive resumes in EAC history, including accolades such as being named DI Freshman of the Year for 2022-23, earning a spot on the 2022-2023 All ACCAC 2nd Team, making the 2022-2023 DI First Team All-Region, being a six-time ACCAC Player of the Week, earning a spot on the 2023-24 All-Region DI 1st team, being named the 2023-2024 Region 1 Tournament MVP, reaching 1000 points scored, attending JA48, being ranked as the #35 player in the country by JucoRecruiting.com, receiving an invite to the Juco Recruiting Top 100 Camp, attending the NJCAA Rising Stars event, participating in the AZ All-Star Shootout, being named AZ All-Star Shootout MVP, being selected for the 2024 NJCAA Men's Basketball All-Star game, receiving Juco Jam All-American Honorable Mention, and being named a 2023-24 NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American.
Seamster, who received over 10 offers from schools such as Tarleton State, Cal State Northridge, IUPUI, UC Davis, and more, ultimately chose UT Arlington. In choosing UT Arlington, Seamster cited the coaching staff as a pivotal factor. "The coaching staff... they were great when I went on my visit," he remarked. "They were straight up with me, and explained to me exactly what they needed from me and I felt like it was the best fit. I've been knowing Coach Pope for 4 years now and I always told him I wanted to coach me so I pulled the trigger and I'm glad I was able to make that happen!"
Dallon Morgan and Raysean Seamster's departures mark the end of an era at EAC, where they were cornerstone athletes of Coach Turner's inaugural recruiting class. With an impressive overall record of 47-17, including a conference regular season championship and a conference tournament championship, both athletes' contributions to Eastern men's basketball are invaluable.
