College of Southern Nevada "Coyote Classic"

 

VS SNOW COLLEGE

Eastern Arizona College showed up and beat Snow College after almost over a decade with a score of 3-1.

 

Match Leaders:

Kills: Olivia Lunt and Steliyana Chakarova each had 13 kills, with Melanie Merrill contributing 11. Blocks: Emma Orton had 5 Digs: Kadence Moore had team high 17, Macee Anway with 13 and Melanie Merrill 12.

 

VS CSI

Southern Idaho a historically tough Region 18 opponent usually sitting in the top 10 gave Eastern Arizona a tough competition. "We struggled to adjust to the size of their middles." says Coach Kay. Final score 0-3.

 

Match Leaders:

Kills: Melanie Merrill contributed 9, Steliyana Chakarova with 8, with Olivia Lunt and Brianna O'Donnal each having 6. Digs: Kadence Moore again with team high at 13.

 

VS USU-E

Eastern Arizona stepped up to play Eastern Utah for the second time this season. The first time they beat Eastern Arizona in 3.  "We played them much better this time around - losing in 4.  We battled against them and stopped some of their key players. Our blocking game was outstanding against them.  Made some great adjustments and gained some confidence." says Coach Kay. Eastern Utah beat Eastern Arizona 1-3.

 

Match Leaders:

Kills: Brianna O'Donnal with 13 and Melanie Merril with 10. Blocks: Emma Orton with 6 and a team high of 18. Digs: Kadence Moore finished with 12 and Asya Akbulut with 9.

 

VS CSN

Eastern Arizona played CSN for the 3rd time this season, having beat them the first 2 times.  "I think we showed up complacent and overconfident while CSN had nothing to lose.  Unforced errors caused a lot of issues. It was a tough match", says Coach Kay.

 

Match Leaders:

Kills: Olivia Lunt with 8 and Melanie Merrill with 7. Digs: Quincy Cummard and Kadence Moore each finished with 12

 

Eastern Arizona was able to compete with several Region 18 teams who they will have to compete with in the District Play-Offs to try and get to Nationals.  "It's good for us to see and play against them and prepare us for post-season", says Coach Kay.
