Lady Monsters Beat Arizona Western on the Road

Eastern Arizona College- The Lady Monsters traveled to Yuma, AZ on Friday, October 27th to battle Arizona Western Lady Matadors. With an 8-game winning streak, the Lady Monsters entered the match feeling confident. "We had a game plan to beat them. The girls stayed disciplined, sticking to the plan, and it worked!" says Coach Kay. The Lady Monsters put up a solid defensive front with a balanced back row but at the net they finished with 8 total team blocks. Arizona Western could not answer our defense and find our side of the floor.

Our offense brought their own pressure to the game by staying a big threat. "Our key hitters were strategic and dominant with their hitting choices" says Kay. Leading the way was Melanie Merrill finishing with 10 kills. Olivia Lunt was right behind with 9 kills.

"Both of our setters played well also. They each carried a defensive load while running the offensive and making our hitters successful" says Kay.

The win against Arizona Western was the push our Lady Monsters needed going into the playoffs.

"The best part of it all was having the support of our Lady Monster's Soccer team in the crowd," says Kay, "They brought so much noise and energy. It felt like we were at home."

The Lady Monsters play tonight against Central Arizona College for the first round of Region playoffs. Yavapai will play at Arizona Western.
