EAC Soccer and Volleyball Teams Have Strong Week
Eastern Arizona College's (EAC) soccer and volleyball teams brought their A-game this week, delivering exciting performances on the field and court. The men's and women's soccer teams kicked off the action with a visit to Bullhead City, while the volleyball squad celebrated their sophomore night in style, adding to a successful week of competition.
Men's Soccer: A Thrilling 2-2 Tie Against Mohave
The men's soccer team traveled to Bullhead City to face Mohave on Firebird Field. In a hard-fought battle, the game ended in a 2-2 tie, with key contributions from several standout players. Freshman Shunto Shimizu put the Gila Monsters on the scoreboard with the first goal of the game, while freshman Davi Barros sealed the tie with a last-minute goal. Sophomore Ronardo Burgher assisted both goals.
Women's Soccer: Dominating Win with 6-1 Victory
The EAC women's soccer team followed up with an outstanding performance, overpowering Mohave 6-1. Sophomore Maddie Haslam led the charge with a hat trick, continuing her impressive season. Freshman Nao Yasuda, Andrea Perez, and Hayley Ropelato each added a goal to secure the dominant victory. Three goals were assisted by freshman Ana Julia Carlessi.
Volleyball: Three Sweeps and a Sophomore Night Celebration
EAC volleyball celebrated their sophomore night in a sweep, defeating Ottawa 3-0. The team displayed well-rounded contributions from both sophomores and freshmen, leading to an all-around stellar performance. Sophomore Melanie Merrill led the offense with 12 kills, while freshman Hannah Pushckor made her presence felt with 5 blocks. On defense, sophomore Kadence Moore tallied an impressive 16 digs, and fellow sophomore Asya Akbulut served up 5 aces, adding firepower to the Gila Monsters' game.
The volleyball team didn't stop there, continuing their winning ways with back-to-back victories over Yavapai on Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, sweeping both matches and solidifying their dominance in the region.
Soccer Forfeit Against Community Christian College
The men's and women's soccer games scheduled against Community Christian College were unfortunately canceled due to a forfeit.
Men's and Women's soccer return home on Tuesday, October 22 to host Yavapai for Sophomore Night. Volleyball will travel to Mesa Community College. Let's Go Monsters!
