Valley TeleCom Turns Up the Heat at Sophomore Night

On Tuesday, October 22, Eastern Arizona College (EAC) hosted Yavapai College for an exciting Sophomore Night doubleheader, where both the men's and women's soccer teams showcased their skills in front of a lively home crowd. Valley TeleCom Group supported the event with a tailgate offering free hot dogs, chips, water, and giveaways. Fans had the chance to win signed soccer balls from both teams, and donations were collected for the Monster Exchange. EAC Athletics expressed their gratitude to Valley TeleCom for their continued support of the college's athletic programs.

Fastest Goal in Men's Soccer History

The EAC men's soccer team started the night with a bang, as sophomore Ronardo Burgher stunned the crowd by scoring the opening goal just seven seconds into the match. However, Yavapai College responded with a free-kick goal later in the game, leveling the score at 1-1. Both teams fought hard for the lead, but neither could break the deadlock, and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

Women's Soccer: 1-0 Victory

The EAC women's team controlled much of the play throughout their match, creating several scoring opportunities. Despite dominating possession and taking numerous shots on goal, it wasn't until the final minute of the game that sophomore Maddie Haslam found the back of the net, securing a thrilling 1-0 victory for the Lady Monsters.

Honoring the Sophomores

Before the games, both teams held special ceremonies to honor their sophomores, recognizing their contributions to the program and their leadership on the field. With the regular season coming to a close, these players will now focus on the upcoming Region I Playoffs. More information on those games will be announced soon. Go Monsters!
