Eastern Arizona College Basketball Teams Dominate Yavapai College

Eastern Arizona College's (EAC) men's and women's basketball teams delivered impressive performances against Yavapai College on Saturday, January 18, in Thatcher, Arizona. The event kicked off with a spirited pregame barbecue hosted by ASEAC in front of Guitteau Gymnasium, where the college's Academic Deans served up hot dogs, creating a festive atmosphere for fans and students.

The Lady Monsters took the court first, dominating the game with a decisive 82-39 victory. The team's scoring was well-distributed, with sophomore Sarah Deng leading the team with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Ashlynn Chlarson and freshman Phalan Sigers also made significant contributions, each scoring 11 points, with Chlarson adding 4 rebounds. On the defensive end, Danaeja Love Romero Ah Sam showcased her skills with 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while Lucia Auza provided 6 assists. This victory improves the Lady Monsters' overall record to 15-4 and their conference record to 6-2. The Lady Monsters are currently ranked #17 on the NJCAA rankings for week 8.

Following the women's game, the men's team continued the winning streak with a 78-53 triumph over Yavapai College. Sophomore Tarrance Warren led the scoring effort with 20 points and 5 assists, while freshman Ryan Hunt controlled the boards with 8 rebounds. The win boosts the men's overall record to 16-3 and their conference standing to 6-2.

Both EAC basketball teams are now preparing to face their next conference rival, Cochise College, on January 22 in Douglas, Arizona. The women's game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 PM, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Monsters as they continue their impressive seasons.
