Softball Starts Strong at CSN Kickoff Tournament
Eastern Arizona College's softball team launched their season with an impressive showing at the CSN Kickoff Tournament in North Las Vegas on January 24-25. The Lady Gila Monsters came out swinging, claiming victories in three of their five games.
On January 24, EAC faced off against the College of Southern Idaho, securing a solid 7-4 win to start their season on the right foot. The momentum carried into their second game against Utah State Eastern, where the Lady Monsters dominated with a 13-1 victory. The team capped off the day with a 15-0 shutout against Northeastern Junior College.
The following day, EAC encountered tougher competition. They fell to Salt Lake Community College 8-3 but quickly bounced back with a decisive 7-1 win over Snow College to end the tournament on a high note. Next, the team will head to Yuma, Arizona, to compete in the Great Western Shootout from January 31 to February 1.
Baseball Sweeps Community Christian College in Season Opener
Eastern Arizona College's baseball team also began their season with an impressive series, traveling to Redlands, California, to face Community Christian College in three conference games. The Gila Monsters swept the series with dominant performances across the board.
In Game 1, EAC claimed a resounding 14-1 victory. Tripp Schroeder led the offensive charge with three hits, four runs, and four RBIs. Brandon Napier and Caleb Rosado were stellar on the mound, each tallying six strikeouts.
Game 2 was another win for the Monsters, finishing 14-2. Gunnar Pedersen and Kayne Carlos each contributed two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, showcasing the team's depth. Pitchers Brett Getz and Sebastian Orozco delivered on the defensive end, with seven and six strikeouts, respectively.
The series concluded with an 11-0 shutout in Game 3. Kayne Carlos, Reece Van Devander, and Jaren Ceasar each contributed one run, two hits, and two RBIs. Pitcher Jorge Roman dominated on the mound, racking up nine strikeouts to seal the sweep.
The Gila Monsters will travel to Phoenix College for their next game on January 28 before hosting their home opener against Luna Community College on January 31.
