
Basketball Shines at Home Against Central Arizona
Eastern Arizona College's basketball teams hosted a thrilling conference doubleheader against Central Arizona in Thatcher on Saturday, January 25.
The women's team tipped off at 2 p.m., delivering an impressive 63-43 victory. The Lady Monsters controlled the game through the first three quarters, with Central Arizona attempting a late rally in the fourth, only to fall short. Sophomore Ashlynn Chlarson led the charge with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals. Freshman Eanae Dagons added an all-around performance with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals.
The men's game followed and provided plenty of drama as Central Arizona pushed the contest into overtime. The Gila Monsters held their ground, ultimately securing the win. Felix Smedjeback led the team with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Kaden Ericksen contributed 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Amari Carraway added 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
Both basketball teams hit the road this week, traveling to Redlands, California, to face Community Christian College on Wednesday, January 29. Go Monsters!
