Eastern Arizona Athletics Recap: February 4

Softball Battles #10 Phoenix College

The Lady Monsters softball team traveled to Phoenix, AZ, to take on NJCAA #10 Phoenix College but came up short in both matchups. Game one ended in a 3-7 loss, while game two saw a 3-6 defeat.

Key performances from game one included Taylor Christensen, who recorded 1 run, 2 hits, and 2 RBIs in 3 at-bats, and Illeana Cosillos, who contributed 1 run, 1 hit, and 1 RBI in 3 at-bats. In game two, Christensen continued her strong performance with 2 runs and 2 hits in 3 at-bats. The Lady Monsters will now regroup and prepare for their home opener on February 15 against Luna Community College.

Baseball Drops Two to Chandler-Gilbert CC

The EAC baseball team faced Chandler-Gilbert Community College, suffering two tough losses, 0-3 and 0-8. Head Coach Kimball emphasized that his goal for these non-conference games was to give playing time to those who had yet to see the field. While the results were not in their favor, the strategy preserved the top starting pitchers for the upcoming conference matchup against Arizona Western College.

Men's Basketball Dominates at Home

Men's basketball hosted Ottawa University JV and put on a commanding performance, securing a 123-60 victory. Their hard work has helped them earn votes in the latest NJCAA National Rankings, marking their return to national recognition.

Looking Ahead

Both baseball and basketball will be back in action at home this weekend, taking on conference rival Arizona Western College.
