Eastern Arizona Dominates Cochise in Conference Clashes

Eastern Arizona College's men's and women's basketball teams secured crucial conference victories over rival Cochise College this past weekend, with both teams adding another tally to their win columns.

The women's team set the tone for the day with a hard-fought 61-58 victory over Cochise. Eanae Dagons led the charge with 15 points and six assists, while Ashlynn Chlarson dominated the boards with 17 rebounds to go along with her eight points. Danaeja Love Romero Ah Sam contributed 14 points, helping the Lady Monsters take the season series 2-1 against Cochise. With the win, Eastern Arizona improved to 20-6 overall and 11-4 in conference play.

The men's team followed suit, defeating Cochise 75-62 and completing a season sweep with a perfect 3-0 record against their rivals. Amari Carraway delivered a standout performance, posting 16 points and eight assists. Ryan Hunt was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Jamare Childs and JT Elder each chipped in 11 points to help power the Monsters to victory. The win extended Eastern Arizona's winning streak to nine games, pushing their record to an impressive 24-3 overall and 13-2 in conference play.

Up next, the Gila Monsters hit the road for a conference matchup against Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ, on Wednesday, February 19. With momentum on their side, both teams will look to continue their strong performances as the postseason looms.
