Basketball Dominates, Men Secure #1 Seed and ACCAC Championship Title

 

Eastern Arizona College's basketball teams delivered dominant performances on February 22, showcasing their strength as they near postseason play.

The women's team, currently holding a 22-6 overall record and a 12-4 conference record, took on Dream City Prep at 2 p.m., delivering a commanding 111-35 victory. Phalen Sigers led the charge with 20 points and five rebounds, while Sarah Deng contributed 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Yazmin Edwards and Eanae Dagons controlled the boards with nine rebounds each, and Lucia Auza facilitated the offense with six assists. Scoring was well-distributed across the team as the Monsters overwhelmed their opponents from start to finish.

Following the women's win, the men's team, boasting a stellar 26-3 overall record and a 15-2 mark in conference play, hosted Community Christian College at 4 p.m., securing their 11th consecutive victory with a resounding 111-46 win. Kahu Treacher posted an impressive stat line with 18 points and seven rebounds, while JT Elder added 17 points. Dijarn Russell-Walters contributed 16 points and six assists, Mathok Chol dominated the boards with 13 rebounds, and Jamare Childs orchestrated the offense with 11 assists.

With this victory, the Monsters clinched the #1 seed and secured back-to-back ACCAC Regular Season Championships after winning the title in 2024. 

Eastern Arizona College's basketball teams continue to build momentum, aiming for deep postseason runs as they look to add more hardware to an already stellar season.
