Bio

Eastern Arizona College is proud to welcome Ashtyn Ochoa as the new Assistant Volleyball Coach for the 2025 season. A Thatcher native and 2017 graduate of Thatcher High School, Ochoa brings a deep passion for the sport and a strong connection to the Gila Valley volleyball community.

A three-year varsity athlete at Thatcher High, she helped lead the Eagles to two state championships in volleyball and one in basketball. She continued her athletic career at Dixie State University (now Utah Tech), where she was part of the team that won the RMAC Championship and competed in the NCAA Division II National Tournament in 2018. Ochoa earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science before transferring to Western New Mexico University, where she completed her collegiate volleyball career and earned a master’s degree in Special Education.

From 2021 to 2025, Ochoa served as a Special Education teacher at Thatcher High School while actively coaching at multiple levels. She was the head coach at Thatcher Middle School from 2021 to 2023, assistant coach at Thatcher High School in 2024, and coached club volleyball for Club GSL in Utah (2019–2020) and Gila Valley Juniors (GVJ) from 2021 to 2024.

Coach Ochoa is known for her commitment to developing young athletes, her championship experience, and her dedication to fostering both skill and character on and off the court. She is married to Luke Ochoa and is the proud mom of Rome.
