Gila Monsters’ Season Ends in Region I Semifinals Against Yavapai

Eastern Arizona College's men's soccer team advanced to the Region I Semifinals, facing the Yavapai Rough Riders in Prescott, Arizona, on October 29. The game kicked off at 7 p.m., with both teams eager to advance.

The Gila Monsters concluded their second season with a 5-4-3 record, tying their last three regular-season games. Yavapai entered the matchup with a 5-5-2 record, going 5-3-2 in Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) play.

The teams had met twice during the regular season, drawing 1-1 in Thatcher during their last encounter, while Yavapai claimed a 4-0 victory in their first meeting.

The Gila Monsters fought hard in the semifinal but ultimately fell 0-2. Reflecting on the game, Coach Peters shared the challenges they faced: "Tonight, we lost 0-2 to a good Yavapai squad. This photo is fitting because we were forced to play with only 12 players. For 25 minutes plus, we played with only 10 on the field due to injuries. The guys battled together; we just didn't get the result."

With this loss, the Gila Monsters' season came to a close. The team displayed resilience throughout the season, showing promising progress in only their second year as a program.
