EAC Women's Basketball Dominates Southern Nevada to Clinch Region I and District Titles

The Eastern Arizona College women's basketball team is headed to the NJCAA National Tournament after a 75-43 victory over the College of Southern Nevada in the Region I Division I Championship and District Championship.

Eastern Arizona (EAC) entered the title game prepared for a tough battle after Southern Nevada's shocking semifinal upset over No. 1 seed Arizona Western. However, the No. 4 seed Coyotes had no answer for the Gila Monsters' relentless attack and defensive pressure.

Sophomore center Ashlynn Chlarson delivered a career-best performance in her final home game, earning MVP honors with a 30-point, 19-rebound showing. Chlarson, who has scored 337 points this season, displayed remarkable energy and leadership, setting the tone early and helping EAC establish control to build a sizable lead by halftime.

Eanae Dagons contributed significantly to the victory with 9 rebounds and 8 assists, helping Eastern Arizona control both ends of the court. Eastern Arizona's defense stifled Southern Nevada throughout the game, forcing turnovers and limiting their offensive opportunities. The Gila Monsters' balanced scoring and fast-paced style overwhelmed the Coyotes, who struggled to find an offensive rhythm.

With the victory, EAC secures its spot in the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming, where they will compete against the top teams in the country. The Gila Monsters will now turn their focus to preparation as they aim to make a deep postseason run.

EAC will await its seeding and first-round opponent as the tournament brackets are finalized in the coming days.
