
Lady Monsters Wrap Up Exciting Season at NJCAA National Tournament
The Eastern Arizona College volleyball team concluded its memorable 2024 season after competing in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. Despite falling short in the consolation round, the Lady Monsters capped off a remarkable year filled with milestones and championships.
Day One: Tough Loss Against Miami Dade
Entering the tournament as the #15 seed, the Lady Monsters faced #2 Miami Dade on Wednesday, November 20. The match ended in a 3-1 loss, sending Eastern Arizona into the consolation bracket.
Day Two: Battle with Odessa College
On Thursday, November 21, the Lady Monsters squared off against Odessa College in a 10 a.m. CST matchup. Eastern Arizona struggled early, dropping the first two sets with scores of 14-25 and 16-25. However, the team displayed resilience in the third set, fighting point for point and tying the score several times before ultimately falling 18-25.
Several players delivered standout performances:
- Melanie Merrill led the offense with 8 kills, 5 service aces, and 7 digs.
- Hannah Pushckor recorded 5 blocks.
- Kadence Moore anchored the defense with 10 digs.
A Season to Remember
The Lady Monsters wrapped up their season with an impressive 23-12 overall record and a 9-3 mark in conference play. Along the way, they claimed the Region I Championship and the Rocky Mountain B District Championship, earning their place on the national stage.
